Saurabh Jyoti is a prominent Nepali entrepreneur and lifestyle influencer, recognized for his leadership within the Jyoti Group of Companies and as Chairman of Syakar Company, the authorized distributor of Honda two and four-wheelers in Nepal. He is also one of the “Sharks” on the first season of Shark Tank Nepal.
Born in Kathmandu in 1974, Jyoti completed his primary schooling there before attending St. Joseph’s College in Darjeeling. He went on to graduate in Industrial Engineering and Management from Bangalore, India. In 1999, he joined his family’s business, starting as a marketing officer in Himal Iron and Steel, Nepal’s first and oldest steel mill. He progressively took on more responsibilities, including overseeing Himal Ceramics factory and Himal Oxygen. In 2005, he began managing the Honda automobile and motorbike business, which, under his leadership, has become a market leader in terms of sales volume and profitability.
The Jyoti Group, founded by his grandfather Maniharsha Jyoti, is a diversified business house with interests in manufacturing, trading, and services. Notable ventures include Himal Iron and Steel, Himal Wires (the first wire plant in Nepal), and Himal Oxygen. The group also holds distributorships for Philips electronics, DJI drones, TAFE farm tractors, Usha, Esab, and Fenner. Beyond these, the Jyoti Group has investments in hospitality (Hotel Aloft), healthcare (Grande International Hospital), banking and insurance (Sagarmatha Insurance), power (Butwal Power Company Limited), and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), including Baskin-Robbins. More recently, the Jyoti Group has transformed into the Padma Jyoti Group, reflecting its continued evolution and commitment to its legacy.
Saurabh Jyoti is known for his business acumen and his passion for motorcycles, owning a unique collection of vintage and modern bikes. He is also an avid collector of watches, gadgets, shoes, and superhero figures. He has held various leadership roles in organizations such as the Nepal Automobiles Dealers’ Association (NADA), Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs Forum (NYEF), and Young Presidents Organisation (YPO). He has also served multiple terms in the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), chairing various committees. In 2022, he released a song titled “Mero Desh,” an ode to Nepal.
