Pramod Kumar Yadav is a seasoned Nepali politician and a respected grassroots leader from Rupandehi District. Born on 2036.01.01 BS in Rupandehi, he is a permanent resident of Rohini Rural Municipality Ward No. 2. Deeply rooted in the social and agricultural life of the Madhesh region, Yadav represents a generation of leaders shaped by public movements, rural realities, and sustained political engagement.
He has completed his education up to the Proficiency Certificate Level and entered active politics during the historic People’s Movement of 2006. Since then, he has remained continuously involved in political and social movements, including the Madhesh Movement, advocating for inclusion, regional development, and social justice.
Pramod Kumar Yadav was elected as a Member of the House of Representatives in 2017 from Rupandehi Constituency No. 4. During his tenure in Parliament, he served as a member of the Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Committee, where he played an active role in discussions related to economic development, supply systems, and industrial policy. In parliamentary debates, he consistently raised issues concerning rural infrastructure, farmers’ welfare, healthcare services, road connectivity, electricity, and education, positioning himself as a strong voice for marginalized and agrarian communities.
Known for his friendly nature, clarity in speech, and cooperative leadership style, Yadav is regarded as an approachable and youth friendly leader. He maintains respectful relations across political lines and is recognized for his inclusive approach, extending goodwill even to supporters of opposing parties. His long standing political continuity after the 2006 movement and his unwavering commitment to the prosperity of Madhesh remain his strongest assets.
Among his personal traits, he is known to trust people easily and to speak candidly within party structures, even when expressing disagreement. He acknowledges these as areas of self reflection while remaining committed to principled and transparent politics.
Electorally, Yadav has remained a central political figure in Rupandehi 4. He contested the 2017 general election with a strong showing and in the 2022 election narrowly lost by approximately five thousand votes. Despite the loss, he has maintained constant engagement with the electorate and continues to work closely with the people of the constituency.
Currently contesting from Rupandehi Constituency No. 4 under the CPN UML banner, his main competitor is from the JSP. His political strength in the constituency is supported by full ward coverage across Sammarimai, Marchawari, Kotahimai, parts of Mayadevi and Siyari, and wards under the Lumbini Cultural Area. The constituency has a strong organizational base of UML voters, support from dissatisfied Congress voters, his own established political legacy, a significant Yadav community population, and growing trust among Gen Z and Gen Y voters.
Out of approximately 116,700 registered voters, around 80,000 votes are expected to be cast, with an estimated winning threshold of 25,000 votes.
Pramod Kumar Yadav’s local election commitments focus on long term, region specific development. These include upgrading the Bethari to Thumhawa four lane road, improving connectivity between Lumbini, Marchawari, and Bhairahawa, systematic management of the Marchawari lift irrigation project, strengthening agricultural markets to enable direct procurement from farmers, completion of cold storage facilities and seed centers in Sammarimai, operation of eye hospitals, opening border trade points, and establishing well equipped hospitals including fifteen bed facilities in every rural municipality.
His development agenda also includes strengthening higher education and technical institutes, constructing the Marchawari ring road, upgrading airport linked road corridors, building bridges and embankments in flood prone areas, establishing an international wrestling sports academy, ensuring household level drinking water connections, public sanitation facilities, fire service units, sports grounds, and youth focused sports programs.
Additionally, he envisions developing religious and cultural tourism in Sammarimai, Marchawari, Kotahimai, and Kevatalia, promoting rural tourism to engage youth, and positioning Marchawar as a national grain production hub through special federal programs.
